EDITORIAL | Uniport Demolitions: Beyond The Rubble.

The demolition exercise at the University of Port Harcourt has changed parts of the campus landscape, leaving behind cleared spaces and questions that extend beyond the structures that once stood there.

Over time, stands, kiosks, shops and other commercial structures became part of the university environment, providing services and livelihoods. While the business owners and those affected count their losses, the removal of these structures raise questions about how they emerged, whether the necessary approvals were obtained, and how regulations were enforced.

While the university maintains that the exercise targeted illegal structures, concerns remain about the notice given to occupants, the investments affected and the circumstances surrounding the establishment of these businesses.

If rent or other payments were collected from occupants, the circumstances surrounding those transactions also deserve clarification.

Beyond the demolitions, attention now turns to the future of the cleared spaces. Will they be landscaped, left open or developed for other purposes? Can the university preserve its green spaces while providing designated areas for legitimate commercial activities?

This is also an opportune time for the university management to look into the dilapidated walkways across the campus. As the landscape undergoes changes, repairing deteriorated walkways would improve accessibility, safety and the overall campus environment.

The demolitions may have removed structures, but the opportunity now lies in thoughtful planning, improved infrastructure and a campus environment that serves the entire university community.

The question is no longer just what has been removed, but what will be improved and built in its place.

"The secret of getting ahead is getting started." — Mark Twain

A new week is here, and as we count down to the resumption of school, it's time to shift our focus and gear up for what's ahead. Success doesn't just happen on day one—it starts with how you prepare before the gates even open.

Use this period to reset your mindset, organize your goals, and get your plans in place. Don't wait for the resumption day to start thinking like a winner; get ahead of the curve right now.

Have a blessed week.

#SundayStoary Episode 36

Sunday Stoary is more than a conversation—it’s a space where we gather to talk faith, purpose, and Christ, honestly and intentionally.

There are seasons when God calls you to initiate the change, and seasons when He calls you to strengthen what is already in motion. True wisdom lies in knowing the difference between planting fresh seeds and watering what is already growing.

In an interview, I was once asked: “Do you want to make a difference, or do you want to be the difference?"

Sometimes, in our quest to be the difference, we risk stepping out of divine alignment—trying to fulfill a role we were never built for. So, how do we discern our true function in every season? Are you meant to initiate change right now, or build on what already exists?

Let’s find that out today!!!

Let’s Breathe. Reflect and journey together. 🙏

💌 Invite someone who is seeking wisdom, ready to discover their true role, and step boldly into their divine alignment.
