Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 2025 · Applies to all Cikamo users worldwide · Effective upon account creation
Cikamo is a platform built for students, learners, creators, and buyers and sellers across Nigeria and beyond. These Community Guidelines exist to ensure that every interaction on Cikamo remains safe, respectful, fair, and genuinely valuable for all members. They apply to everything you do on the platform — every post, comment, direct message, marketplace listing, profile update, and transaction.
By creating an account or using the Platform in any way, you confirm that you have read and agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination, depending on the nature and severity of the breach. These guidelines should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, which together govern your use of Cikamo.
Be Respectful
Treat every member the way you would want to be treated — with dignity, patience, and consideration for different backgrounds and viewpoints.
Be Honest
Share only accurate information. Do not impersonate others, spread misinformation, or misrepresent your products, credentials, or identity.
Be Safe
Never share content that puts you or others at risk. Protect your privacy and report anything that feels unsafe or suspicious immediately.
Add Value
Every post, comment, and upload should contribute meaningfully to the community — not just fill space, game rewards, or seek hollow engagement.
Contents

- Posts designed solely to game the reward system
- Unsolicited commercial or promotional messages
- Content copied from other platforms without attribution

Cikamo reserves the right to remove content that, while not explicitly listed above, we reasonably determine to be of poor quality, deceptive, harmful, or inconsistent with the spirit of these guidelines.
2. Respectful Behaviour
Cikamo is a diverse, multicultural community. We expect all members to interact with one another with respect and good faith, regardless of differences in background, experience, religion, gender, or opinion. Disagreements are welcome — hostility and cruelty are not.
2.1 Prohibited Behaviour
The following behaviours are strictly prohibited on Cikamo:
- Harassment and bullying — repeatedly targeting, intimidating, mocking, or humiliating another user in any context, including in private messages;
- Hate speech — any content that promotes discrimination, prejudice, or violence against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, age, or any other protected characteristic;
- Threats and incitement — threatening physical harm to any person or group, or encouraging others to commit violence, whether online or offline;
- Doxxing — sharing another person's private or personally identifiable information (such as home address, phone number, workplace, or financial details) without their explicit consent;
- Impersonation — pretending to be another person, creator, brand, or organisation in a misleading or deceptive way;
- Targeted abuse — coordinating with other users to pile onto, isolate, or attack a specific individual or community;
- Sexualised harassment — sending unsolicited sexual messages, imagery, or commentary to another user.
3. Safe Content
Cikamo is used by students and young people, including those under 18. We have a responsibility to ensure the Platform remains safe for all ages. Content that is inappropriate for a general student audience will be removed.
3.1 Prohibited Content Types
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on Cikamo under any circumstances:
- Sexually explicit, pornographic, or adult-only content;
- Graphic depictions of violence, gore, or injury;
- Content that depicts, promotes, glorifies, or facilitates self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders;
- Any content that sexualises, exploits, abuses, or endangers minors — including child sexual abuse material (CSAM);
- Content that promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for committing illegal acts, including drug use, violence, theft, or fraud;
- Extremist or terrorist propaganda or content that incites or glorifies acts of terror;
- Content designed to shock, frighten, or distress users without a clear educational or journalistic purpose.
3.2 Reporting Unsafe Content
If you encounter any of the above on the Platform, please report it immediately using the report button on any post or profile. Reports involving minors or illegal content are treated as our highest priority and will be escalated to the appropriate authorities where required by law.
4. Intellectual Property
Cikamo respects the intellectual property rights of creators and rights holders, and we expect the same from our users. Sharing or profiting from someone else’s work without permission is a violation of these guidelines and may expose you to legal liability.
4.1 Your Obligations
- Only upload, post, or sell content that you created yourself or have explicit, documented permission to use and distribute;
- Do not reproduce, distribute, or resell copyrighted works — including books, music, films, software, artwork, or photographs — without a valid licence from the rights holder;
- Credit sources clearly and appropriately when citing, quoting, or referencing another person’s work;
- Do not use Cikamo to facilitate or distribute pirated software, cracked applications, leaked content, or any other material obtained through infringement;
- Do not upload content that contains trademarks, logos, or branding you do not own in a way that could mislead others.
4.2 Copyright Complaints
If you believe your copyright-protected work has been shared on Cikamo without your permission, please file a formal complaint at [email protected] with the subject line “Copyright Complaint”. Include the following information:
- A description of the original work you own;
- The URL of the allegedly infringing content on Cikamo;
- Your name, contact email, and relationship to the work;
- A statement that you believe the use is unauthorised.
We will review all valid copyright complaints and act promptly. Repeat infringers will have their accounts permanently terminated.
5. Marketplace Conduct
The Cikamo Marketplace connects buyers and sellers across Nigeria and beyond. All Marketplace participants must conduct themselves honestly, transparently, and in full compliance with applicable law.
5.1 Seller Standards
- List your products accurately and completely — do not misrepresent what you are selling, including its condition, origin, or included features;
- Set fair and honest prices — do not engage in price manipulation, artificial inflation, or deceptive pricing tactics;
- Fulfil orders as described in your listing and communicate proactively with buyers about any delays;
- Only sell items you have the legal right to sell, and ensure your listings comply with applicable laws;
- Do not manipulate buyer reviews, solicit fake positive reviews, or leave retaliatory negative feedback.
5.2 Buyer Standards
- Read product descriptions carefully and ask questions before purchasing if anything is unclear;
- Pay promptly and in accordance with the agreed terms;
- Do not engage in fraudulent chargebacks or attempt to claim refunds for items you have received as described;
- Communicate respectfully with sellers when resolving issues.
5.3 Prohibited Listings
The following items may not be listed on the Cikamo Marketplace:
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or related paraphernalia;
- Weapons, firearms, or ammunition of any kind;
- Counterfeit, pirated, or fraudulently obtained goods;
- Stolen property or items obtained through illegal means;
- Sexually explicit materials;
- Human organs, body parts, or biological materials;
- Any other item whose sale or distribution is prohibited under Nigerian law or Cikamo policy.
6. Privacy and Personal Information
Every Cikamo user has a right to privacy. You must not use the Platform to violate the privacy of other users or to collect, share, or exploit their personal information without their knowledge and consent.
6.1 What You Must Not Do
- Harvest, scrape, or collect other users’ personal data from the Platform for any purpose;
- Share screenshots or recordings of private messages or conversations without the consent of all parties involved;
- Use Cikamo to track, monitor, stalk, or locate another person without their knowledge;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user’s account, profile data, or private information;
- Publish another person’s private contact details, financial information, or location data without their explicit consent.
For information on how Cikamo itself handles your personal data, please read our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these guidelines.
7. Platform Integrity
Cikamo invests significantly in building a fair and transparent platform for all users. Attempts to game, manipulate, or undermine our systems harm the entire community and will result in swift enforcement action.
7.1 Prohibited Manipulation
- Creating multiple accounts to evade bans, inflate engagement metrics, or manipulate platform features;
- Using bots, scripts, automated tools, or third-party services to generate posts, views, followers, or interactions;
- Manipulating the points or creator reward system through coordinated, artificial, or deceptive activity;
- Organising or participating in follow-for-follow schemes, view-swapping rings, or coordinated inauthentic behaviour;
- Purchasing, selling, or trading Cikamo accounts, followers, engagement metrics, or points;
- Exploiting bugs, glitches, or platform vulnerabilities to gain an unfair advantage. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it responsibly to [email protected] rather than exploiting it.
8. Creator Conduct
Creators on Cikamo — those who produce original content and may participate in the creator monetisation programme — are held to an additional standard of conduct given the influence they may have on our community.
8.1 Creator Responsibilities
- Produce original, honest, and high-quality content that genuinely serves your audience;
- Clearly disclose any commercial relationships, sponsorships, or paid partnerships to your audience (see Section 9);
- Do not deliberately mislead your followers about products, services, health information, financial matters, or current events;
- Uphold all aspects of these Community Guidelines — your reach does not exempt you from these rules; on the contrary, greater influence comes with greater responsibility;
- Do not use your platform status to harass, target, or mobilise your audience against other users.
8.2 Monetisation Integrity
- Do not attempt to inflate your view counts, engagement metrics, or follower numbers through artificial means to qualify for or increase creator earnings;
- Do not post misleading, sensationalised, or harmful content solely to drive views or clicks;
- Any attempt to defraud Cikamo’s creator payment system will result in immediate termination of monetisation privileges and may result in legal action.
9. Advertising and Sponsored Content
Cikamo is supported in part by advertising revenue. We and our partners may display ads on the Platform in compliance with applicable advertising regulations. This section explains your obligations when it comes to commercial content you create.
9.1 Disclosure Requirements
If you create content on Cikamo in exchange for payment, gifts, free products, or any other form of compensation from a brand or business, you must clearly and prominently disclose this commercial relationship to your audience. Failure to disclose paid partnerships or sponsored content is a violation of these guidelines and may breach advertising regulations applicable in your country.
9.2 Acceptable Advertising Conduct
- Clearly label paid promotions, sponsored posts, or affiliate content with appropriate disclosures such as “Ad”, “Sponsored”, or “Paid Partnership”;
- Only promote products or services you genuinely believe are legitimate and lawful;
- Do not make false or misleading claims about products, services, or their results;
- Do not promote pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing structures that make misleading income claims, or get-rich-quick schemes.
9.3 Cikamo Platform Advertising
Cikamo may display advertisements served by third-party networks, including Google AdSense. These ads may be personalised based on your browsing behaviour and interests as determined by the ad network. Cikamo does not control the content of third-party advertisements and accepts no liability for them. You may opt out of personalised advertising through your browser or device settings or through the relevant ad network’s opt-out tool.
10. How We Enforce These Guidelines
Cikamo’s moderation team reviews reported content, investigates potential violations, and applies enforcement actions proportionate to the severity, frequency, and context of each case. We may use automated tools as well as human review in this process.
- Warning — For minor or first-time violations, we may issue a formal warning, remove the offending content, and explain why it breached our guidelines. Warnings are recorded on your account.
- Content removal — Content that violates these guidelines will be removed without prior notice. The uploader will be notified of the removal and the reason.
- Feature restriction — For moderate violations, we may restrict specific features of your account, such as the ability to post, comment, or participate in the Marketplace.
- Temporary suspension — Repeated or more serious violations may result in a temporary account suspension, typically ranging from 24 hours to 30 days depending on the nature of the breach.
- Permanent ban — Severe violations — including any content that harms minors, facilitates illegal activity, constitutes hate speech, or involves deliberate and sustained platform manipulation — will result in permanent account termination with no right to re-register.
- Referral to authorities — In cases involving content that is illegal, threatens personal safety, or involves the exploitation of minors, Cikamo will report the matter to the relevant law enforcement authorities in Nigeria or the user’s country of residence.
11. Reporting Violations
Every user has a role to play in keeping Cikamo safe. If you come across content or behaviour that you believe violates these guidelines, please report it. Do not attempt to retaliate against the user yourself.
11.1 How to Report
- Use the report button on any post, comment, message, or profile to file a report directly within the Platform;
- For urgent or serious matters (such as content involving minors or imminent threats), email our moderation team directly at [email protected] with the subject line “Urgent Report”;
- For general concerns, use the contact form at https://cikamo.com/contact.
11.2 False Reporting
Deliberately submitting false or malicious reports against other users in order to harm them or get their content removed is itself a violation of these guidelines. Repeated abuse of the reporting system will result in enforcement action against the reporter’s account.

12. Appeals
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you have the right to appeal the decision. To do so:
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “Appeal — [your username]” within 14 days of the enforcement action;
- Include a clear explanation of why you believe the decision was incorrect, along with any relevant evidence;
- Our team will review your appeal and respond within 14 business days.
Appeals are reviewed independently of the original moderation decision. However, all final decisions remain at Cikamo’s sole discretion, and not all enforcement actions are eligible for appeal (for example, accounts terminated for CSAM or serious illegal activity will not be reinstated).
13. Updates to These Guidelines
Cikamo’s Community Guidelines will evolve as our platform grows, as new challenges emerge, and as we receive feedback from our community. We will notify all registered users of significant changes via email or through a notice on the Platform before changes take effect.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after updated guidelines are published constitutes your acceptance of those changes. We encourage you to review these guidelines regularly.
If you have feedback or a question about these guidelines, reach out to us at [email protected]. We genuinely want to hear from our community.
