OPM Founder and General Overseer Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere Pledges Support for Uniport.
Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has pledged the church’s continued support for the University of Port Harcourt, while commending Vice Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill R. Chike, for his track record in public service.
Apostle Chinyere made the commitment during a visit to the University, where he congratulated Professor Chike on his appointment as Uniport’s 10th Vice Chancellor.
He expressed confidence that the Vice Chancellor would replicate the impact of his tenure as Rivers State Commissioner for Health at the University.
The OPM founder also disclosed plans to undertake a project at Uniport, stating that he would engage the University’s management to identify a project that would create lasting value for the institution and its community.
He further revealed that OPM’s scholarship beneficiaries currently include students of Uniport, noting that the University’s national reach and reputation for academic excellence informed the decision.
Responding, Professor Chike appreciated Apostle Chinyere and OPM for their humanitarian interventions, particularly their support for indigent students.
The Vice Chancellor welcomed the proposed partnership and expressed the University’s readiness to collaborate with OPM on initiatives that would further contribute to the development of Uniport.

Uniport SUG Announces Official Closure Of Hostel Applications.
The Students' Union Government (SUG), University of Port Harcourt, through the Office of the Director of Information, has released an official notice regarding hostel accommodation applications.
In a statement issued today, Wednesday, September 9, 2026 signed by the SUG Director of Information, Comrade Ogwunte Godswill Jonathan, the union notified the student body that the submission of applications for hostel accommodation has officially closed.
Students who successfully submitted their applications prior to the deadline are advised to remain calm and await updates regarding processing and allocation. Further directives on space allocation will be communicated in due course.
