Uniport Defeats RSU, IAUE To Retain Championship at ICAN PH District Quiz Competition.

The University of Port Harcourt has once again emerged victorious at the 2nd Edition of the ICAN Port Harcourt & District Society Quiz Competition for Tertiary Institutions in Rivers State — successfully defending the title after winning the maiden edition last year.

A big commendation goes to Dr. Henry Wobo and the dedicated academic team for their guidance and mentorship. Special recognition goes to the brilliant student team — Olaniyi, Nwobodo, Providence, Kizito, Josephine, Olulu-Briggs, Okramate, and Kenneth — all from the Department of Accounting, for delivering an outstanding performance.

Final Scores

1st — Uniport: 104 points
2nd — RSU: 94 points
3rd — KenPoly: 88 points
4th — IAUE: 84 points
5th — Eastern Poly: 63 points

Congratulations to Team Uniport for bringing home the trophy once again and reaffirming the University’s academic excellence.

SUG Judiciary Council, University of Port Harcourt, Pays Courtesy Visit to the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal on 23rd November 2025.

The delegation was warmly received by Hon. Justice Henry T. Roberts, Esq., who shared insightful guidance on integrity, discipline, and the continuous learning in the pursuit of justice. The Council also presented His Lordship with an award in recognition of his remarkable contribution and inspirational leadership.

The Council during the visit, was privileged to meet The Deputy Registrar, Hon. Barr. Abiye Stanley Ideriah, Esq., who provided valuable perspectives on court administration, procedural standards, and emerging areas of law.

The visit strengthened the Council’s ties with the state judiciary and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting due process, legal education, and accountability within the university community.

Uniport SUG Leadership Meets with Green House Foods Management to Strengthen Student Welfare Initiatives.

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University of Port Harcourt, led by the SUG President Senator Amaechi Walson Tamunotonye in company of the SUG Senate President, Senator Ayebaye Bestman held a high-level engagement with the management of Green House Foods on campus.

The meeting focused on advancing student welfare and exploring meaningful avenues through which Green House Foods can contribute to the overall development of the university community. Discussions centered on strengthening corporate social responsibility efforts, improving service delivery to students, and introducing new programmes tailored to enhance the academic and social wellbeing of the student body.

Both parties expressed commitment to fostering a productive partnership that will yield sustainable benefits for students. The SUG leadership reiterated its dedication to pursuing initiatives that promote student empowerment, welfare, and a more conducive learning environment.
