World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026: Pad-A-Girl Outreach Makes Impact at Uniport. In commemoration of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students (PANS Uniport Chapter), the Office of the Chief Judge, SUG Uniport, and the Leo Club of Uniport, successfully carried out the impactful “Pad-A-Girl” outreach themed: “No Girl Should Be Left Out of the Hygiene Process.” The outreach was powered by Hon. Justice Dimkpa Noble Ka-Alenebari Lah, Chief Judge of SUG Uniport, whose support and commitment contributed immensely to the success of the programme. The event brought together students, health advocates, and stakeholders to promote menstrual hygiene awareness, break stigmas surrounding menstruation, and support young girls through education and the distribution of free sanitary pads. Speaking during the programme, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, emphasized the importance of menstrual health awareness, dignity, and support for girls and women. He called for collective efforts towards ending menstrual stigma and ensuring every girl child has access to proper hygiene materials and education. Uniport Opens 2026/2027 Post-UTME Registration — Minimum Score: 160. The University of Port Harcourt has announced the commencement of registration for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening Exercise. Candidates who chose Uniport as their First Choice institution in the 2026 UTME and obtained a minimum score of 160 are eligible to apply. Registration starts on Friday, 15th May, 2026 and closes on Friday, 29th May, 2026. Registration Procedure; * Visit the University website at www.uniport.edu.ng and strictly adhere to the registration procedure. * Eligible candidates are to input their UTME Registration Number and confirm pre-loaded UTME details. * Generate Remita Code for online payment with ATM Card, OR print out Payment Slip and proceed to any bank with Remita Platform for payment of ₦2,000 only. * Obtain a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code from the bank teller confirming payment. * Proceed online again and log in with your UTME Registration Number and the Access Code to confirm payment. * Complete the Form online as requested. * Click the “Submit” button and print Registration Slip for the Screening Exercise. From the lecture halls of the University of Port Harcourt to the commanding heights of banking, economic policy, and public leadership — Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has built a career that proves excellence is not an act, but a lifelong commitment. Studying Economics at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Otti distinguished himself early, graduating with a First Class Honours degree in 1988. His years at Uniport were marked by an uncommon blend of academic brilliance and leadership: he served first as Treasurer, then President of the Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA), and even took on the role of News Editor of the Uniport Mirror campus publication. His devotion to academics earned him recognition as the Best Graduating Student in the Department of Economics, the best in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and the Overall Best Graduating Student of his year. Yet, instead of walking the predictable path of academia, Otti envisioned a future shaped by financial intelligence, reforms, and nation-building. This vision propelled him into Nigeria’s banking sector, where he rose steadily through institutions such as Nigerian International Bank (Citibank), UBA, and subsequently became the Group Managing Director/CEO of Diamond Bank Plc. Under his leadership, Diamond Bank strengthened its global footprint, expanded its customer reach, and implemented modern digital banking systems that contributed to making the institution one of Nigeria’s most innovative banks of its era. His academic journey didn’t end at Uniport.
