• #BusinessStoary Session 5: Turn Interest Into Income.

    A lot of business owners are getting attention but not sales.

    People see the posts.
    People admire the product.
    People ask questions.

    But admiration does not pay bills.
    Sales do.

    Tonight, we’re talking about how to turn attention into actual income.

    How do you:

    * Communicate value?
    * Price confidently?
    * Handle objections?
    * Close sales effectively?
    * Turn visibility into revenue?

    Because visibility alone is not enough.
    If people don’t buy, the business doesn’t grow.

  • 🛑 FACT CHECK: Is the Uniport Smartphone Ban Memo Real?

    A memo regarding a "Revised Policy on the Use of Mobile Devices" has been circulating since yesterday afternoon, causing quite a stir within the University of Port Harcourt community. However, after comparing this document with verified memos recently issued by the Dean of Student Affairs, several red flags suggest it is fake.

    At Unique Stoary, we prioritize accuracy over speed to ensure our community stays informed, not misinformed. Here is why this document didn't pass our verification check:

    1. Inconsistent Formatting
    Official Uniport memos follow a specific template, as seen in the verified documents from March 13th and 14th regarding departmental dues and the Director of Socials. This viral smartphone memo lacks the standard "Memorandum" layout and uses a header style that doesn't align with official university administrative records.

    2. Unbelievable Content
    The message—claiming an immediate prohibition of all smartphones (specifically naming brands like Samsung, iPhones, and Tecno) in favor of "button phones"—is highly impractical for a modern academic environment. A policy of this magnitude would typically require a formal rollout from the University Senate.

    3. Signature Discrepancies
    The signature on the smartphone memo does not match the official signature of the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Chima Chibuike Wokocha found on verified university documents. The "official" signature is consistent across genuine memos, while the viral one appears to be totally different.

    4. No Official Confirmation
    The SUG Director of Information (DOI) typically posts official memos almost immediately. As of now, no official student government or Management channel has verified or shared this document.

    In an era of "viral" misinformation, don't be the one to spread it. For genuine, double-checked Uniport news and campus updates, follow Unique Stoary on all platforms: WhatsApp Channel, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Cikamo, and TikTok @uniquestoary.

    📢 Help Stop the Spread: Share this post with your departmental and faculty groups to ensure no student falls for this hoax.

    ⚠️ Verdict: Always verify information through the SUG Secretariat or the Dean's office before sharing.

  • EDITORIAL: The Power of Content Creators in Uniport — Personal & Departmental.

    In today’s digital age, content creation has moved beyond entertainment — it has become a powerful tool for communication, branding, education, and community building. Within the University of Port Harcourt, content creators (both personal and departmental) are redefining how stories are told, especially across social platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

    From skit makers, videographers, designers, writers, photographers, podcasters, to social media managers, Uniport is home to a growing network of creative minds using these platforms to document campus life, promote events, share academic updates, and highlight student culture. Through reels, short videos, livestreams, stories, and posts, these creators are shaping the digital identity of Uniport daily.

    📍The Benefits to the University.

    1. Increased Visibility & Branding:
    With the massive reach of TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, student creators help project Uniport’s culture, excellence, and vibrancy to audiences far beyond the campus. Viral content, engaging reels, and trending formats boost the school’s online presence and brand appeal.

    2. Fast & Effective Information Dissemination:
    Departmental pages and student platforms use these social media channels to quickly circulate announcements, academic updates, timetables, events, and opportunities — ensuring information reaches students in real time.

    3. Stronger Student Engagement:
    Interactive content such as reels, polls, live sessions, challenges, and stories fosters connection, participation, and unity among students, making campus life more engaging and inclusive.

    4. Talent Development & Digital Skills:
    Through content creation, students gain practical experience in videography, editing, digital marketing, storytelling, branding, and analytics — skills highly relevant in today’s job market.

    5. Digital Documentation & Legacy:
    Social media serves as a living archive of Uniport’s academic journey, student achievements, cultural moments, and memorable events.

    📍How Uniport Can Better Utilize Content Creators & Social Platforms.

    1. Strategic Digital Partnerships:
    The university management, faculties, departments, and student bodies can collaborate with trusted creators to produce official content for orientations, matriculations, convocations, seminars, competitions, and major campus events.

    2. Structured Departmental Media Teams:
    Each department and faculty can establish dedicated media teams to manage their TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook pages for consistent communication and branding.

    3. Training, Workshops & Media Bootcamps:
    Regular training sessions can equip students with advanced skills in content strategy, storytelling, editing, platform algorithms, ethical media use, and digital professionalism.

    4. Recognition, Incentives & Support:
    Providing awards, certificates, media grants, equipment support, and official recognition will motivate creators and encourage higher-quality content production.

    5. Centralized Digital Communication Strategy:
    Uniport can develop a unified digital media framework that integrates student creators into its official communication channels, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and professionalism.

    Content creators in Uniport are more than entertainers — they are digital storytellers, brand ambassadors, and community builders. Through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, they amplify campus voices, promote student excellence, and connect Uniport to the global digital space.

    At Unique Stoary, we believe in authentic storytelling and purposeful content. When empowered and properly integrated, Uniport’s content creators can transform campus communication and redefine the university’s digital identity.

  • From Festivities to Focus: Resumption Day at Uniport.

    Today, the University community officially returns from the Christmas and New Year break.

    Campus awakens once again—buildings and hostels wear a renewed look, walkways grow busier, and the familiar rhythm of student life resumes. Freshers and returning students are concluding registrations, settling back into hostels, and transitioning from festive rest to academic focus.

    Resumption day always carries a special energy. It marks a shift from celebration to responsibility, from pause to progress. It is a reminder that the work of learning continues, and that each return to campus is another opportunity to do better, aim higher, and stay committed.

    As activities pick up, we also remain hopeful that the remaining female Best Graduating Students yet to receive their share of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu ₦50 million award will finally receive it this month. Recognition of excellence should be timely, and such gestures hold meaning beyond the moment they are announced.

    As today unfolds and the session truly begins, we wish the Uniport community a smooth resumption, renewed focus, and a productive academic period ahead.

  • In school, take on leadership roles — but steer them toward purpose.

    This is especially important if you’re aiming for competitive scholarships or elite internships.

    There are two types of leadership:

    1. Positional leadership
    2. Transformative leadership

    Positional leadership is tied to a title.
    Transformative leadership is tied to impact.

    Scenario 1: I once served as a Student Union Leader — chairing meetings, coordinating committees, handling disputes. That is positional.

    Scenario 2: In 2019, I noticed something deeper: students from low-income backgrounds were quietly struggling with the rising transport fares on campus. Attendance was dropping. Morale was low. Many students were choosing between missing class and overspending.

    So I leveraged my relationships with the transport unit and the university’s Vice-Chancellor to negotiate a price ceiling for student transport.

    This change reduced average transport expenses by about 30% and helped ease the daily burden for hundreds of students. Our follow-up survey showed improved attendance, better morale, and more consistent study routines.

    That is transformative leadership.

    What is the difference between the two kinds? Let me know in the comment section.

    And yes, you can turn positional leadership into transformative leadership.

    And yes, you don’t need a title at all to be transformative.

    Your competition will be set against the eagles. Act like someone that understands that.

    In school, take on leadership roles — but steer them toward purpose. This is especially important if you’re aiming for competitive scholarships or elite internships. There are two types of leadership: 1. Positional leadership 2. Transformative leadership Positional leadership is tied to a title.
