An invigilator was left completely stunned after discovering the creative ways some students allegedly sneak expo materials into examination halls. 🤣 Omo! The things students can come up with just to beat examination rules ehn! Some people came prepared for the exam, others came prepared for something else. 😂 But seriously, what do you think? Is it desperation, lack of preparation, or just too much creativity being put to the wrong use? Let's hear your opinion! 👇 🎥 Video in the comments. #Cikamo #ExamStories #StudentLife #Education #Examination

STRIKE ACTION BY ASUU, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT BRANCH TODAY 16/09/26 👇🏿 A strike action has been declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Port Harcourt Branch following the University Administration’s failure to address the demands of the Union. Recall that at its Emergency Congress held on Friday 11th September, 2026, Congress reached a Resolution on the following matters of urgent importance regarding salaries/emoluments of lecturers: 1. Incomplete payment of lecturers’ 3 months’ (June, July & August, 2026) salary 2. Incomplete payment of Responsibility Allowances to lecturers 3. Non-payment of Responsibility Allowance to members under CONMESS & CONHESS (lecturers in the School of Health Sciences) 4. Sidelining ASUU members in the monthly payment of Responsibility Allowances to members of the other unions for over two years now 5. Etc. Regrettably, the University Administration, in spite of meeting with the Union on the same day and promising to respond to the Union’s demands before the deadline given by Congress, refused to act as promised. Recall that the said Resolution arrived at Congress through a democratic means gave the University Administration the period of 48 working hours which summed up to the midnight of Tuesday, 15th September, 2026 to address the issues or face an indefinite local strike action backed by the National body of our Union. Sequel to the University Administration’s failure to address the issues, the branch in an emergency Congress held today, 16th September, 2026, declared the indefinite Strike Action. For the avoidance of doubt, members of ASUU are not supposed to give lectures or examinations, invigilate examinations, participate in any official assignment or statutory meetings during the strike action. The Strike Monitoring Team has been mandated to monitor compliance across the University’s campuses and Centres. United we bargain, divided we beg! Aluta Continua! EDITORIAL: Week Two; The Examination Journey Continues. The examination season at the University of Port Harcourt has entered its second week, and for students, the journey continues with the same demand for preparation, discipline and resilience. Last week, we took our coverage beyond the classroom and into examination venues, stopping by Ashgrove Academy, the ICTC, Basic and other examination centres to get first-hand perspectives on how the process was unfolding. At Ashgrove Academy, where technical challenges had affected the experience previously, there was noticeable improvement during our visit, with those challenges having been resolved. It was encouraging to see the examination process progressing with greater stability. Our visits also offered a glimpse into the different realities students face during examinations—from the pressure of "last minute reading" and navigating venues to the determination of students focused on completing their papers. As Week Two begins, the message remains simple: stay focused and finish strong. For those with examinations ahead, use the lessons from the first week to improve your preparation. For those who have already written some papers, do not dwell on what is past. There are still more opportunities to make your effort count. One week is gone. The journey continues. Keep showing up, keep giving your best, and finish stronger than you started. EDITORIAL: The Final Exam; The End of One Journey, The Beginning of Another. As examinations commence at the University of Port Harcourt, the familiar atmosphere of anticipation, anxiety and intense preparation fills the campus once again. But for some students, these examinations carry a deeper significance: they mark the final academic test of their undergraduate journey. For months and, in some cases, years, students have attended lectures, completed assignments, conducted practicals, written tests, faced challenges and worked towards this moment. Now, the preparation meets the examination hall. For those writing their final papers, the emotions may be different. There is excitement about what lies ahead, nostalgia about the journey so far and perhaps uncertainty about life beyond the university. Yet, before graduation comes the task at hand: finish strong. To every student writing an examination, success demands more than endless reading. It requires discipline, proper time management, adequate rest and a calm mind. Avoid unnecessary distractions, study strategically and trust the preparation you have put in. And to the finalists, remember that this examination is not just another paper. It is the closing chapter of your undergraduate academic journey. Give it everything you have. Leave the examination hall knowing you did your best, because the next chapter is waiting. Do not allow fear to overshadow your preparation. Read carefully, manage your time wisely, remain confident and believe in yourself. Prepare. Believe. Succeed. Finish Strong. EDITORIAL: Uniport This Week — SUG Week, Sports, Music, Politics & Entertainment. Last Thursday and Friday, Uniport came alive with the Spotify Campus Drop, a two-day experience combining music, creativity, workshops, conversations and live performances. Day One, “No Data, No Wahala,” introduced students to Spotify Premium’s offline listening experience, while Day Two, “Fresh Finds on Campus,” featured workshops, artist conversations and live performances. Unique Stoary collaborated with Spotify and was on ground throughout the two days, capturing the energy and memorable moments from the experience. Now, a new week begins with even more happening across campus. At the centre of the week is SUG Week ’26, themed “Liberation.” The celebration officially began on Sunday with Praise Night, bringing students together for worship, music and celebration. With more activities lined up, SUG Week is set to provide students with opportunities to connect, unwind and create memorable experiences beyond the classroom. Tuesday is a big day for football lovers. The Uniport Stadium will host the Uniport Freshers’ Cup Final, with BMS taking on SSLT at 10:00 AM. Later in the day, Portugal (Engineering) will face Mexico (Agric) at 2:00 PM in another highly anticipated final. Two finals, one stadium and plenty at stake. Meanwhile, the SUG political season has entered a new phase. The campaign period for students who indicated interest in contesting for elective positions has officially ended. After weeks of campaigns, promises and engagements across campus, attention now shifts to the next stage of the electoral process. With campaigning over, students have an opportunity to reflect on the candidates, their ideas and records, and the kind of leadership they want. Beyond posters and campaign slogans, the focus should remain on representation, accountability and effective service to the student community. And when the week winds down, MC Olaks Friday Night Laughs is set to bring comedy and entertainment to campus. The event holds at Unique Luxury Hotel and Suites by 6:00 PM, offering students the opportunity to relax, laugh and round off an eventful week. From SUG Week and football finals to music, student politics and comedy, Uniport has plenty happening this week. University life goes beyond lectures and examinations; it is also about the experiences, conversations, competitions and memories created along the way. As always, Unique Stoary will remain close to the action, bringing you the people, events and conversations shaping student life. Stay informed. Stay connected. Stay Uniport.
