  • Uniport Alumni Spotlight: Meet Dr. Victor Otaigbe Ayemere, Group Managing Director/CEO of Zeenab Group.

From the bustling corridors of the University of Port Harcourt to the center of Nigeria’s agribusiness transformation — Dr. Victor Otaigbe Ayemere embodies what it means to lead with vision, discipline, and purpose.

Studying Accounting at Uniport, Ayemere sharpened his understanding of structure, strategy, and financial systems. But the traditional corporate path wasn’t enough. He saw a bigger picture — one where agriculture could move beyond subsistence and evolve into a scalable, export-driven powerhouse capable of feeding nations and empowering communities.

This conviction led him to establish Zeenab Foods Group, one of Nigeria’s rapidly expanding agricultural and food-processing conglomerates. The company has become a trusted name in commodity processing, value-chain development, and food distribution — all driven by innovation, technology, and deep investment in local capacity.

Under Ayemere’s leadership, Zeenab Foods is not just a business.
It is a catalyst for rural development.
It is a bridge between farmers and global markets.
It is a shining proof that agriculture — when led with vision — can be both profitable and transformational.

Dr. Ayemere’s leadership roles extend beyond Zeenab Group, as he serves as the Coordinator of the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture in China. As a multifaceted professional, he holds various positions, including Vice President, International Business, Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Deputy National President, Cassia Tora Producers, Processors and Exporters of Nigeria. He is also a Board member of four thriving companies across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Furthermore, he is the founder of the Nigerian Exporters Hub (NEXHUB), a dynamic electronic platform that connects buyers and sellers for international trade, solidifying his position as a champion of African trade and commerce.

Today, Dr. Victor Ayemere stands tall as one of Uniport’s distinguished alumni, reminding us that a degree is more than a certificate. It is a seed — capable of growing an entire ecosystem.

If you know any Uniport Alumni doing exploits, do well to mention them in the comment section and we might just shine the spotlight on them.

  • ‎Two days ago, I went to work at Mercy Land, Port Harcourt. And after I was done with the job, I was paid a little cash, and I started leaving for home. Just before the east-west road where I can board a taxi to my base, which is at Uniport environment, I met a group of adults begging. There are about 6-7 of them, ladies included.

‎It was one of them that stopped me, and the way he approached, I thought they were doing evangelism in the streets. He now said Please, I want to talk to you and I said, " I'm all ears. He started by saying he wanted to ask me for a small favour, I said Alright, if it's something I can do, then why not? All in my thoughts, he would ask for a few of my time so he can share the gospel of Jesus Christ with me.

‎But guess what? He started telling me that he and his colleagues have not eaten since morning, and they have been walking around and even getting thirsty and they needed to get water and drink but they don't have any money with them, he wants to seek a favour from me if I can help them with a little money so they can eat. I looked at him, a mature, well-grown-up adult, and I looked at his colleagues, and all of them are the same.

‎And I asked him, Do they stay around this environment? And he said No, I then asked again, Then what did you come here to do and he said They are selling products, and they haven't made any sales yet. It now dawned on me that these are Neo-life kind of related people. I know they don't like to hear the truth at all because I have encountered a lot of them in the past.

‎I told him bro, let me tell you what you don't want to hear, don't allow any company to limit your potential as a vibrant youth and forcefully turn you into a street beggar. You aren't a lazy person, you're a hardworking person, and the hard work I'm seeing in you, if you channel that in the right way, you will never find yourself begging in the streets.

‎I know you don't want to hear this bitter truth, but for the fact that you sell a product and you met me, instead of you to advertise the product you're selling, and tell me how the product will be of a help or meet a particular need for me and why I need to buy it, but you're here begging me of money. That completely shows that your products don't solve any problem in the marketplace. Your products don't meet people's needs, and they're not in demand in the marketplace. Why then are you wasting your life on this?

‎Imagine the long kilometres of trekking on an empty stomach in an unknown environment? I told him, you're an adult, you should be able to identify a good opportunity and a waste of time. How do you even convince yourself against this reality and forcefully accept being a street beggar? I told him after so many encounters with people like you, I have made up my mind never to take you guys seriously but I am going to help you with what I can because I am a member of Gateway International Church and this is our month of random out of kindness, and I'd be showing you kindness for that reason only.

‎I took about 30% of my payment and gave it to them and they left. It's not up to a 1-minute walk, and another set of beggars stopped me again, the same category of people. I didn't even waste my time; I just told them I have given their colleagues what I have, and I'm not giving out any shishi even if they mistakenly swallow a shovel now now before me. They were like, Why is everyone saying they have given to their colleagues? I was like What do you expect when you willingly accept being a street beggar?

‎Personally, once you fall into those categories of people, my heart of kindness towards you is gone, and I will never take you seriously in life.

  • Maximizing Value and Sustainability through IT Asset Disposition (ITAD)

In today's fast-paced digital environment, businesses are constantly upgrading their IT infrastructure to keep pace with technological advancements. As organizations deploy newer, more efficient systems, the question arises: what happens to outdated or unused hardware? This is where IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) comes into play. ITAD is a critical business practice focused on the safe, secure, and environmentally responsible disposal or recycling of obsolete IT equipment. With data security, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance becoming top priorities for organizations, ITAD has emerged as an essential component of IT lifecycle management.

    Source - https://www.marketresearchfuture.com/reports/it-asset-disposition-market-1002

IT Asset Disposition is more than just discarding old computers or servers; it is a structured approach that includes decommissioning, data sanitization, remarketing, recycling, and proper disposal. The primary goal of ITAD is to extract maximum value from retired IT assets while ensuring that sensitive data is completely erased and that equipment is handled in accordance with environmental and data protection regulations. Whether a company is refreshing hardware, relocating offices, downsizing, or undergoing a merger, a well-executed ITAD strategy mitigates risks and promotes operational efficiency.

One of the most critical aspects of ITAD is data security. Modern IT devices—servers, desktops, laptops, mobile phones, and storage drives—store vast amounts of sensitive information. Improper disposal of these assets could lead to data breaches, identity theft, and non-compliance with laws such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA. To combat this, certified ITAD providers employ advanced data destruction methods, including physical shredding, degaussing, and software-based data wiping. These processes ensure that no recoverable data remains, giving organizations peace of mind and compliance assurance.

Another core element of ITAD is environmental responsibility. Discarded electronic devices, commonly referred to as e-waste, pose a significant threat to the environment due to the presence of toxic substances like lead, mercury, and cadmium. According to global statistics, millions of tons of e-waste are generated annually, but only a fraction is responsibly recycled. ITAD providers help minimize environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills through refurbishment, component recovery, and certified recycling processes. This not only reduces ecological harm but also supports corporate sustainability goals.

Source - https://www.marketresearchfuture.com/reports/it-asset-disposition-market-1002 IT Asset Disposition is more than just discarding old computers or servers; it is a structured approach that includes decommissioning, data sanitization, remarketing, recycling, and proper disposal.
