• #SundayStoary Episode 36

Sunday Stoary is more than a conversation—it’s a space where we gather to talk faith, purpose, and Christ, honestly and intentionally.

There are seasons when God calls you to initiate the change, and seasons when He calls you to strengthen what is already in motion. True wisdom lies in knowing the difference between planting fresh seeds and watering what is already growing.

In an interview, I was once asked: “Do you want to make a difference, or do you want to be the difference?"

Sometimes, in our quest to be the difference, we risk stepping out of divine alignment—trying to fulfill a role we were never built for. So, how do we discern our true function in every season? Are you meant to initiate change right now, or build on what already exists?

    Let’s find that out today!!!

Let’s Breathe. Reflect and journey together. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ’Œ Invite someone who is seeking wisdom, ready to discover their true role, and step boldly into their divine alignment.

  • If You're An Introvert That Just Gained Admission Into 100 Level, Pay Attention So You Won't Lose Opportunity.

Let’s kill this comfortable lie early: University does not reward silence; it rewards visibility.

Nobody is going to knock on your hostel door, see you curled up on your mattress reading a novel, and hand you a leadership role, an international scholarship link, or a high-paying freelance connection just because you are "peaceful and quiet...

Back in secondary school, being quiet made you the "well-behaved student..

On this campus? Being completely silent makes you invisible. And in an overcrowded lecture auditorium of 500 confused freshers, invisibility is an academic and professional death sentence.

Here is the brutal mistake most 100L introverts make..

You convince yourself that your only assignment is to attend lectures, sign the attendance sheet, run straight back to your room, lock the door, and avoid human contact. You tell yourself, "I don't like drama.

I'm just here for my degree.
Then year after year slips by:
You miss out on crucial past questions and assignment updates because you refused to say hello to the person sitting next to you.

You watch students with half your brainpower land student government slots, campus ambassadorships, and fellowship recommendations simply because people actually know their names.

You graduate with a first class or second class upper, step into the job market, and realize nobody knows what you are capable of doing because you spent four years hiding behind the tag of "introvert.

Being an introvert is a personality type; it is not an excuse for cowardice or laziness.

You don't need to suddenly become the loudest party animal or turn into the noisemaker of your faculty. You don't need 200 friends.

  • EDITORIAL | Uniport Under Reset: Beyond the demolitions.

The once green and serene landscape of the University of Port Harcourt has changed.

Stands, kiosks, shops and other commercial structures have increasingly become part of the environment. Many provide services students genuinely need and create livelihoods for members of the university community.

Yet, a question remains: When does commercial activity begin to alter the character and purpose of a university space?

On October 2, 2026 the University of Port Harcourt announced that the demolition of what it describes as illegal structures on University premises will commence on today Monday October 5, 2026.

The University says the exercise follows a decision of the Finance and General Purpose Committee of the Governing Council and is intended to restore order, ensure compliance with University regulations and maintain a safe and conducive environment.

The decision brings attention to a larger issue: how did we get here?

Structures do not usually transform a campus overnight. They appear gradually. A temporary stand becomes permanent. One structure becomes several. Commercial activity expands, and eventually, what was once temporary becomes part of the landscape.

That raises questions about planning, approvals, monitoring and enforcement.

If structures require approval, how were they established? Were approvals granted? If not, when was the violation identified? And what system will prevent a similar situation from developing again?

These questions are not necessarily an indictment of any particular administration. They are questions worth asking if the University wants a sustainable approach to campus development.

There is also the human side.

Behind every structure may be someone's investment, business or livelihood. That does not automatically make an unauthorised structure lawful, but it means enforcement has consequences beyond the buildings themselves.

    Clear communication will therefore matter.

People should understand what qualifies as an illegal structure, which structures are affected and what procedures apply.

But perhaps the biggest question is not what happens during the demolition, it is what happens afterwards.

If these structures are removed, what happens to the spaces?

Will they remain open? Will properly designated commercial areas be created? Will there be a framework for businesses that genuinely serve the university community?

Demolition can remove structures, only planning can prevent the cycle from returning.

University of Port Harcourt can evolve without losing its identity.

The University can accommodate legitimate commercial activity without allowing commerce to overwhelm the character and purpose of the campus.

This moment, therefore, presents an opportunity—not only to remove structures, but to rethink how University of Port Harcourt manages its spaces.

The question is simple: What should the University of Port Harcourt look like five years from now?

The answer should not be determined only by what we remove today, but by what we decide to build tomorrow.

  • Uniport Alumni Spotlight: Meet Chief Ibiagbanidokibubo Asenite "Agbani" Darego, MFR, Miss World 2001, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2001.

What does it take to make history on the global stage?

Chief Ibiagbanidokibubo Asenite 'Agbani' Darego, MFR is a Nigerian model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss World 2001. She was the first black African, the fourth African overall, and the third one to win the title outright (i.e. without benefitting from resignations of higher-ranked contestants, and without dethronements). It was a defining moment not just for Nigeria, but for the African continent.

Before the international spotlight, she was a student at the University of Port Harcourt. Her journey is a reminder that extraordinary achievements often begin in ordinary places, shaped by discipline, preparation, and the courage to dream beyond familiar boundaries.

Agbani Darego didn't just represent a nation; she redefined what was possible for a generation of young Africans. Her success continues to inspire countless people to pursue excellence with confidence and purpose.

Her story reminds us that where you start does not determine how far you can go. What matters is the commitment to keep growing, learning, and showing up with excellence every step of the way.

What habit are you building today that could shape the future you're working toward?

Uniport Alumni Spotlight: Meet Chief Ibiagbanidokibubo Asenite "Agbani" Darego, MFR, Miss World 2001, Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2001. โ–ช๏ธ If you know any Uniport Alumni doing exploits, do well to mention them in the comment section and we might just shine the spotlight on them. • "The oak fought the wind and was broken; the willow bent when it must and survived."

Resilience isn't always about standing your ground. Sometimes, it's about knowing when to bend without breaking.

Life will bring seasons of uncertainty, setbacks, and unexpected change. Those moments aren't meant to destroy you—they're opportunities to develop wisdom, patience, and endurance.

Don't measure your strength by how rigid you are. Measure it by your ability to remain rooted in your values while adapting to life's storms.

This week, be like the willow: flexible enough to weather the wind, yet firmly planted in purpose.

    Have a blessed week ahead.

  • BOLD Conversations | Episode 27

Topic: Has Student Unionism Lost Its Voice?

From vibrant history-making movements that once held leadership accountable to quieter, administrative-driven student politics, campus advocacy in Nigeria has undergone a massive shift. Historically, student unions were the bold frontlines for justice, student welfare, and social reform. Today, many students feel a growing disconnect between the executives representing them and the daily struggles on ground—ranging from rising fees and infrastructure challenges to safety and academic policies.

This evolution raises intense debate across Nigerian campuses. One side argues that student unionism hasn't died, but simply matured into modern diplomacy—prioritizing peaceful negotiation, policy dialogue, and constructive engagement over protests and shutdowns. The other side insists that student unionism has lost its true purpose, becoming a stepping stone for personal political ambitions, compromised by institutional pressures, and silent when student voices need to be heard the most.

Are today’s student unions strategic diplomats adapting to modern realities, or have they lost the courage and Independence needed to fight for student welfare?

Tonight, in this episode, we talk openly about the state of student unionism—its history, its present realities, and what it takes to rebuild genuine, courageous student advocacy.
