• THE HOLY SPIRIT VS. THE GPA: The University of Calabar Exam Scandal.
(This is one of those "only in a university" stories that perfectly balances the bizarre with a moral dilemma.)

Imagine sitting for an exam, opening the booklet, and realizing the examiner accidentally printed the answers right under the questions. That’s exactly what allegedly happened at the Unical during a Hospitality and Tourism Management exam. For over an hour, the hall was pin-drop silent as students "diligently" copied their way to a perfect score.

With only 5 minutes left on the clock, a female student stood up. She didn't ask for an extra sheet—she confessed. She told the lecturer that the Holy Spirit prompted her to speak up about the leaked answers.

The exam was immediately cancelled. Years of "academic management" vanished in seconds.

The leaked image shows the question paper (Course HTM 103) with the answers clearly typed in bold directly below each prompt.
Question: "Travel for pleasure is called _______ tourism."
    Answer provided: "Leisure tourism."

    Let’s Debate!
This has sparked a massive row online. Which side are you on?

    A) TEAM CONSCIENCE: She did the right thing! Integrity matters more than a grade, and a degree built on lies is worthless.

    B) TEAM "WHY NOW?": Why wait until 5 minutes before the end? If the Holy Spirit spoke at the start, she should have said something then before everyone wasted their energy.

    C) TEAM SURVIVAL: She just "cancelled" the hard work (and luck) of her fellow students. There’s a time to be a saint and a time to just mind your business.

Would you have been the one to speak up, or would you have whispered "Amen" and kept writing?

Drop your thoughts in the comments.

  • Prof. Owunari Georgewill Applauds Nigerian Army, Chief of Army Staff for Hosting Landmark Social Media & Security Seminar at Uniport.

The University of Port Harcourt recently played host to the representative of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, alongside senior officers of the Nigerian Army and sister security agencies, during the 45th Social Media Seminar of the Nigerian Army.

Speaking on the event, the Uniport Vice Chancellor Prof. Owunari Georgewill commended the Nigerian Army for selecting the University as the venue for such a strategic national engagement, describing the seminar as timely, insightful, and highly impactful.

The seminar, which was held at the Auditorium of the Centre of Excellence, Abuja Campus focused on examining the growing influence of social media on national security, bringing together key stakeholders to brainstorm solutions, share perspectives, and deepen understanding of the digital space and its security implications.

According to Prof. Georgewill, the need for a thorough interrogation of social media’s impact on national security cannot be over-emphasized, especially in today’s fast-evolving information age. He noted that the initiative by the Nigerian Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff reflects a forward-thinking and proactive approach to national security discourse.

The event was widely applauded as well-organized, thought-provoking, and highly successful, further positioning the University of Port Harcourt as a hub for national and intellectual engagements.

    Part 9: Mid-Semester Blues
Halfway through the semester, motivation waned for Ada. Lectures felt monotonous, and homesickness peaked. Rainy season floods turned Uniport paths into muddles, mirroring her mood. Chidi noticed and organized a morale-boosting movie night in the common room, screening Nigerian films. Ada confided in Fatima about doubts: "Is this worth it?" Fatima shared stories of alumni success, like Uniport grads leading oil firms. A motivational talk by a guest speaker at the Auditorium reignited her fire, emphasizing grit. Ada revamped her routine: daily goals, rewards like ice cream from the canteen. Journaling helped process emotions. She joined a yoga club at the sports center, finding zen amid chaos. Support from family calls bolstered her. By semester's midpoint, Ada emerged stronger, viewing blues as growth phases. As she studied under the library's acacia trees, she affirmed: perseverance through dips led to peaks of achievement

  • Uniport Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill Honoured as Uniport SUG Presidents Organise Historic Symposium.

History was made on Thursday February 12, 2026 at the University of Port Harcourt as the current President and four former Presidents of the Students Union Government (SUG) came together to organise a one-day symposium titled “From Agitations to Negotiation.”

The symposium was organised as the Vice Chancellor gradually approaches the end of his tenure in July 2026, with his modest yet impactful contributions to student matters within the University highlighted and celebrated. The event was described as deeply humbling, marking a rare moment of unity and appreciation from successive student leadership.

Prof. Owunari Georgewill expressed heartfelt gratitude to the current and former SUG Presidents, as well as the entire Nigerian student community, for the honour bestowed on him.

The event, which held in honour of the Vice Chancellor, was organised by Comrade Ubabuike C. Gift (2021/2022), Comrade Dickson D. Senibo (2022/2023), Sen. Okpara Martins A. (2023/2024), Rt. Hon. Harmony Lawrence (2024/2025), alongside the current SUG President, Sen. Amaechi Walson Tamunotonye.

This stands as a historic milestone in Uniport, reinforcing the spirit of dialogue, collaboration, and constructive engagement between students and university management.

  • Here again
    Part 5

    Extracurricular Adventures
Ada decided to broaden her horizons beyond lectures. She signed up for the Uniport Debate Club, held in the Faculty of Humanities auditorium. Her first debate on "Oil Dependency in Nigeria" was nerve-wracking, but her research on the Niger Delta impressed the judges. Chidi joined the Coding Club, hacking away at projects in the computer lab.
Together, they attended a career fair at the International Conference Centre, networking with oil company reps from Shell and Chevron. Ada landed a mentorship slot with an engineer. Weekends brought fun: a trip to the nearby Garden City Amusement Park, where laughter echoed on rides. But balance was crucial; Ada skipped a party to prepare for a presentation. Emeka invited her to a cultural night, showcasing Igbo dances and Yoruba drumming.
She performed a spoken word piece on ambition, earning applause. These activities honed soft skills—leadership, communication—that textbooks couldn't teach. As she reflected by the Choba Bridge, Ada saw how extracurriculars paved the way for holistic success at Uniport

  • Episode 1: The Arrival

In the bustling city of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, the gates of the University of Port Harcourt (Uniport) swung open for a new academic year.
Fresh-faced students from across the country poured in, their hearts pounding with excitement and nerves.
Among them was Ada, a bright-eyed girl from Lagos, dreaming of becoming a petroleum engineer. She lugged her suitcase through the crowded Choba campus, dodging motorcycles and street vendors selling akara and plantains.
Her roommate, Chidi, a local from Rivers State, greeted her with a warm smile. "Welcome to Uniport, the 'Unique Uniport' as we call it," he said.
They unpacked in their tiny hostel room in Abuja Park, sharing stories of JAMB exams and family expectations.

Ada stared at the Niger Delta scenery from her window, the oil rigs in the distance reminding her of her goals. That evening, they attended the orientation lecture in the massive Convocation Arena, where the Vice-Chancellor inspired them: "Success here demands discipline, resilience, and passion."

Ada felt a surge of determination. As night fell, the sounds of generators and distant highlife music lulled her to sleep, marking the start of her university journey.
