  • If You're An Introvert That Just Gained Admission Into 100 Level, Pay Attention So You Won't Lose Opportunity.

Let’s kill this comfortable lie early: University does not reward silence; it rewards visibility.

Nobody is going to knock on your hostel door, see you curled up on your mattress reading a novel, and hand you a leadership role, an international scholarship link, or a high-paying freelance connection just because you are "peaceful and quiet...

Back in secondary school, being quiet made you the "well-behaved student..

On this campus? Being completely silent makes you invisible. And in an overcrowded lecture auditorium of 500 confused freshers, invisibility is an academic and professional death sentence.

Here is the brutal mistake most 100L introverts make..

You convince yourself that your only assignment is to attend lectures, sign the attendance sheet, run straight back to your room, lock the door, and avoid human contact. You tell yourself, "I don't like drama.

I'm just here for my degree.
Then year after year slips by:
You miss out on crucial past questions and assignment updates because you refused to say hello to the person sitting next to you.

You watch students with half your brainpower land student government slots, campus ambassadorships, and fellowship recommendations simply because people actually know their names.

You graduate with a first class or second class upper, step into the job market, and realize nobody knows what you are capable of doing because you spent four years hiding behind the tag of "introvert.

Being an introvert is a personality type; it is not an excuse for cowardice or laziness.

You don't need to suddenly become the loudest party animal or turn into the noisemaker of your faculty. You don't need 200 friends.

  • Uniport SUG Director Of Students With Special Needs, Comrade Omaka David Ikechukwu, Begins Campus-wide Data-Mapping Exercise.

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) Office of the Director of Students with Special Needs at the University of Port Harcourt has commenced a campus-wide data-mapping exercise to identify students with disabilities and special needs across all faculties.

As part of the exercise, Faculty Presidents and Directors of Special Needs have been directed to work closely with departmental executives to compile and verify relevant student information.

The initiative aims to establish an accurate database to support advocacy and improve access to essential services for students with special needs. These include academic concessions, Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination arrangements, ground-floor hostel allocations, priority attention at the health centre, and improved physical accessibility across campus.

The exercise covers students with mobility or physical impairments, visual and hearing impairments, chronic health conditions, and neurodivergent or learning needs, including dyslexia and speech or communication impairments.

Students who fall within any of these categories are encouraged to contact their faculty or departmental executives to ensure their details are captured in the database.

The initiative is expected to contribute to a more accessible and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students with special needs receive appropriate consideration and support throughout their academic journey.

  • BOLD Conversations | Episode 37

Topic: Is University Education Still Affordable in Nigeria?

For generations, higher education in Nigeria was heralded as the ultimate passport out of poverty and a guaranteed pathway toward socio-economic mobility. Today, that time-honored promise faces a profound structural crisis as sweeping fee hikes hit public tertiary institutions nationwide.

This topic opens up a bold discussion on rising tuition and other university fees, the financial burden on students and parents, access to education, and the responsibility of government in making public university education affordable. Is higher education becoming a privilege for the wealthy rather than a right for every Nigerian?

Cost-reflective pricing and university autonomy, you argue that institutions urgently need funding to maintain facilities, support research, and ensure stable academic calendars amidst soaring inflation. But when mandatory fees double or triple overnight, the burden on struggling parents and self-funded students becomes devastating—forcing thousands to defer their studies or drop out entirely. Is institutional quality worth pricing out the average Nigerian youth?

Yet, tuition-free public education, you protect equal access, social mobility, and the government’s duty to invest in human capital. Yet, with public funding stretched thin and student loan schemes facing operational hurdles, can universities survive without realistic financial backing? How do we balance institutional survival with citizen accessibility without destroying young dreams?

Tonight, we dissect the economic reality every student, parent, and stakeholder must navigate today. We’ll explore the root causes of rising campus costs, evaluate government interventions, and question what the future holds.

  • EDITORIAL | The Week That Was: Academic Milestones, Campus Developments And Growing Creativity.

It was another eventful week at the University of Port Harcourt, with developments spanning academic excellence, university governance, student engagement and entertainment.

The University Governing Council approved the promotion of 96 academic staff, including 53 Professors and 43 Readers. The Senator Mao Ohuabunwa-led Council also toured university facilities, including the Senate Building and Choba Campus, to assess infrastructure and operations.

Meanwhile, MTN Nigeria brought its 25th Anniversary and Customer Service Week celebration to campus, engaging students with connectivity offers, freebies and exciting activities. The week also featured the October edition of SABI COMEDY CLUB with MC Olaks, bringing laughter and entertainment to the community as the headline act Destalker alongside others delivered humour with mastery.

Beyond capturing these moments, Unique Stoary is investing in its people. Our volunteers alongside those from RSU Stoary are undergoing a series of training sessions under the October Edition of our Capacity Building Sessions, covering hosting, project management, videography and photography, writing and editing. Guided by the theme “UNSCRIPTED: Developing the Instinct, Creativity & Confidence to Own Every Moment,” we are strengthening the skills needed to tell better stoaries and create greater impact.

As we begin another week, we remain committed to documenting campus life, celebrating achievements and building a stronger community through stoaries that matter.

  • Time Cheated Me: How My Six Months I.T at the Refinery Clinic Made My 2026.

If someone had told me at the start of the year that waking up before dawn four days a week would end up being the highlight of my 2026, I would have laughed so hard. Yet here I am, looking at the calendar with barely a month left of my Industrial Training, wondering how time managed to move this fast. Honestly, I feel a little cheated.

My journey began on the 4th of May, 2026, the day I officially resumed as an industrial trainee at the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) – NNPC Limited. Walking into an environment of that scale for the first time is an experience on its own. Every day felt like stepping into the heartbeat of a giant industrial world. My primary posting was the medical laboratory, a space that would quickly become my second home. Before I could fall in love with the work, however, I had to survive what I call a very rude routine.

Nothing in my schedule at the University of Port Harcourt had prepared me for the sheer discipline of corporate and industrial life. Suddenly, my flexible student mornings were replaced by blarring of early alarms at ungodly hours and the frustrating rush to meet the staff pickup time. Doing that once is tough; doing it four days every single week was sincerely frustrating at first. There were mornings when my body protested hard against getting out of bed.

That adjustment period was easily my biggest challenge, but it gave me a perspective I didn't have before. It made me deeply respect the grit and consistency of 9-to-5 workers everywhere. Showing up, day in and day out, takes real effort.

Once I settled into the rhythm, the real work took over. In the medical laboratory, my main responsibility was preparing patient’s samples for my supervisor to analyze. Whenever I got the chance to run the tests and work on the samples myself, it was under my supervisor's close and patient guidance. Having someone watch over your shoulder can feel intimidating at first, but it taught me precision, patience, and confidence in my hands.

Soon enough, my training stretched far beyond the walls of the laboratory. Before I knew it, I was shuttling between the medical records department, the lab, and even the ECG room.

I will be honest: at the beginning, I saw all those extra duties as a burden. After all, I came here for the lab, why was I sorting records or assisting with ECGs? But somewhere along the way, my perspective shifted. Learning has always been a core part of who I am, so I decided to stop complaining and start absorbing everything around me. Embracing those "extra" roles turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. It gave me a complete picture of how patient care flows through a clinic, from the moment a file is pulled in records to the final diagnostic result.

The People Who Made Half of 2026 Beautiful

As much as I grew professionally, it is the human side of PHRC that I will carry with me as long as I can. Between the early morning bus rides, the switches around the clinic, and the quick walks to the ECG room, I met incredible people. I built genuine friendships and formed professional connections that I am deeply grateful for.

Looking back from May until now, working at the clinic didn't just fill up my logbook, it made half of my 2026 truly beautiful.

Now, the countdown has begun. With only one month left before I wrap up my Industrial Training, the early mornings don't even feel like a chore anymore. Instead, I find myself wishing I could slow the clock down just a little bit. Time really played a fast one on me, but I wouldn't trade this chapter for anything.

  • BOLD Conversations | Episode 36

Topic: Where’s the Line Cruise and Vibes Shouldn’t Cross?

It’s the ultimate Gen Z culture, but recent headlines have made it a matter of life-altering consequences. Following the recent disciplinary action at Madonna University—where a final-year nursing student was expelled and 14 others suspended over a viral hospital TikTok video captioned "No sick o, na Gen Z full hospital" — we are forced to ask: where does lighthearted banter end, and real-world destruction begin?

If you lean into the "cruise and vibes," you get quick engagement, viral reach, and instant connection. You build an audience, showcase personality, and participate in online culture. But when that content steps into professional spaces, clinical environments, or ethics violations, the fallout can cost years of hard work, tuition, and future careers in a single click. Is clout worth sacrificing years of sacrifice and professional ethics?

If you stand for professional boundaries and strict online discretion, you protect institutional integrity, patient dignity, and your long-term career security. You don't have to worry about disciplinary panels, suspensions, or public backlash. But in an era where institutions often react with extreme measures rather than guidance, is expulsion a fair punishment or an overreaching standard? Is it possible to balance youth culture with professional accountability without destroying young futures?

Tonight, we dissect the boundary every student, creator, and professional must navigate in the digital age. We'll explore where innocent fun crosses into negligence, whether institutions are being too harsh, and how to enjoy social media without losing your future.
