Uniport Governing Council Task Force Meets Vice Chancellor on Revenue, Assets and Investments.


The Governing Council Task Force on Revenue Review, Illegal Structures, Business Concerns and University Investment Reorganisation has met with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill, to review progress on its mandate and clarify key areas of its assignment.


The meeting focused on strengthening the University’s revenue systems, particularly the Single Portal administration policy, digitalising bed-space allocation and payment, and improving information management, transparency and accountability.


The Committee also discussed the enumeration and marking of illegal structures on University property, as well as the reorganisation of the University’s business concerns and investments to improve efficiency, sustainability and returns.


Responding, Prof. Princewill commended the Committee for its work and stressed the need for accurate data, proper documentation and practical solutions that protect the University’s interests.


He further directed that the exercise on illegal structures be systematic and properly documented, while urging the Committee to remain focused on its mandate and ensure that its recommendations are sustainable and beneficial to the University.


The Task Force, chaired by Chief Hon. Kadilo Kabari, was established by the Senator Mao Ohuabunwa-led Governing Council to review the University’s revenue systems, address issues concerning illegal structures and business concerns, and reorganise Uniport Investments Limited for greater efficiency and sustainability.


The assignment falls within the Council’s statutory responsibilities under Section 6(1) of the University of Port Harcourt Act, particularly regarding the University’s finances, property and policies.
