During my working visit to Nsukka at the weekend, I met with leaders and stakeholders from across Enugu North Senatorial District - our revered traditional rulers, political leaders, community representatives, professionals, and various groups. My meeting with the traditional rulers was hosted by His Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu, at Edem Ani, while the town hall was held at the UBA Hall, UNN.

They reminded me of the three major requests they brought to me before the 2023 election: to dualise the 44km Abakpa Nike - Opi - Nsukka Road, ensure that a son of Nsukka becomes Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, and support the creation of Adada State. It was heartwarming to hear the joy in their voices as they noted that the road is already being dualised, that history has been made with the appointment of Professor Simon Ortuanya as the first Nsukka-born Vice Chancellor of UNN since 1960, thanks to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and that I have stood firmly with them in the push for Adada State.

They spoke of the changes they can already see taking shape - 102 Smart Green Schools across the zone, 102 new Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres bringing care closer to our people, and a modern Nsukka transport Terminal set to transform mobility and commerce.

I told them that while these achievements are worth celebrating, they are only the beginning. By 2025, once we have completed all 260 Smart Green Schools and 260 healthcare centres across the state, we will move even more aggressively on roads. I also shared our vision for a high-speed rail line between Enugu and Nsukka that will cut travel time to just 15 minutes. Feasibility studies are underway, and we will make it happen.

I left Nsukka encouraged and inspired. The trust and commitment I saw in these meetings strengthen my resolve to deliver even more. Together, we will keep breaking new ground and building the modern, prosperous Enugu we all dream of.
