NITDA, iDICE Set to Establish Technical/Robotic Centre of Excellence at Uniport. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) Programme, is set to establish a Technical/Robotic Centre of Excellence at the University of Port Harcourt. A delegation from NITDA and iDICE, led by Senior Manager, NITDA Abuja Office, Engineer Aminayanasam Omorieokuma, visited the University on Monday, September 21, 2026, to assess facilities and engage the University on its preparedness to host the Centre. The delegation was received on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chike Princewill, by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and Advancement, Prof. Chukwudi Onyeaso. The proposed Centre is expected to strengthen robotics, innovation, practical technology skills, research and emerging technology development, creating new opportunities for students and researchers. Prof. Onyeaso expressed the University's appreciation for the initiative, noting that it aligns with the Vice Chancellor's focus on digitalisation, innovation, collaboration and relevant skills development.
