EDITORIAL: A Week of New Beginnings at the University of Port Harcourt. The University of Port Harcourt is stepping into a defining week—one that reflects the resilience of its student leadership, the transition of its highest office, and the continuous preparation of students for life beyond the classroom. In what many students have welcomed as a return to normalcy, officials of the Students' Union Government who were previously out of office have now been restored, paving the way for the Union to resume its activities with renewed purpose. The development is expected to strengthen student representation and shift attention back to governance, advocacy, and service to the University community. While student leadership regains its footing, the University itself is preparing to bid farewell to an administration that has shaped its recent history. The week-long Close-out Ceremony in honour of Professor Owunari Georgewill, the University's 9th Vice Chancellor, marks the final days of an era that officially comes to a close on July 13, 2026. As the celebrations unfold, the institution also looks ahead to a new chapter under the leadership of the incoming Vice Chancellor, Professor Princewill Chike, who will assume office following the formal handover. Amid these moments of transition, the focus on the future remains evident. On July 10, the Finance Society, Uniport, will host its much-anticipated Career Fair 2026 at the Faculty of Law Auditorium. Bringing together students, professionals, and industry leaders, the event promises to equip participants with practical career insights, networking opportunities, and the tools needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive job market. Registration remains open via https://tix.africa/discover/careerfair2026 As leadership evolves, administrations change, and students continue to prepare for opportunities beyond campus, one thing remains constant—the University of Port Harcourt continues to write new chapters in its story. And as always, Unique Stoary will be there to tell them. Campus stories 💯 Episode 16: Internship Insights At the refinery, Ada shadowed engineers, learning pipeline operations. Safety protocols were strict—helmets, boots mandatory. She assisted in maintenance, applying classroom knowledge. Challenges: long hours in heat, but rewarding. Mentors praised her eagerness. Chidi's Lagos internship involved app development, sharing updates via calls. Ada documented experiences in a journal, noting Niger Delta environmental impacts. Networking events connected her with professionals. A project on efficiency improvements earned commendation. Back at Uniport for briefings, she presented findings to peers. Internship bridged academia and industry, solidifying her career goals and success strategies. #migg

Here again 🙌😂 Part 5 🔥🔥 Extracurricular Adventures Ada decided to broaden her horizons beyond lectures. She signed up for the Uniport Debate Club, held in the Faculty of Humanities auditorium. Her first debate on "Oil Dependency in Nigeria" was nerve-wracking, but her research on the Niger Delta impressed the judges. Chidi joined the Coding Club, hacking away at projects in the computer lab. Together, they attended a career fair at the International Conference Centre, networking with oil company reps from Shell and Chevron. Ada landed a mentorship slot with an engineer. Weekends brought fun: a trip to the nearby Garden City Amusement Park, where laughter echoed on rides. But balance was crucial; Ada skipped a party to prepare for a presentation. Emeka invited her to a cultural night, showcasing Igbo dances and Yoruba drumming. She performed a spoken word piece on ambition, earning applause. These activities honed soft skills—leadership, communication—that textbooks couldn't teach. As she reflected by the Choba Bridge, Ada saw how extracurriculars paved the way for holistic success at Uniport TBC #migg
