Uniport SUG Senate Holds 5th Sitting, Schedules Legislative Summit.

The 10th Students’ Representative Council (Senate) of the Students’ Union Government, University of Port Harcourt, held its 5th sitting on March 9, 2026, at the TETFund Main Auditorium. The session had a quorum of 95 legislative members present.

During the sitting, the Senate adopted the agenda for the day and deliberated on several matters affecting the legislative arm of the Union. In his address, the Senate President Senator Bestman Ayebaye Ilegimokuma informed the house about concerns regarding due process in the formation of some committees. Consequently, committees formed under the offices of the Director of Socials and the Director of Students with Special Needs, which had not received Senate approval, were declared null and void.

The Legislative Assembly also unanimously resolved that a Legislative Summit be held on March 19, 2026, with detailed information to be communicated to Speakers and Chief Councilors.

Following the completion of the day’s business, a motion for adjournment was moved by Senator Patrick and seconded by Senator Pius. The sitting concluded with a closing prayer led by Hon. Pastor Okoma Ephraim, after which the Aluta and School Anthems were observed.
