The Students’ Union Government (SUG), University of Port Harcourt, has announced the indefinite postponement of the Nigerian Union of Nursing Students Association (NUNSA) Chapter election, previously rescheduled for today, August 29, 2026 at 10:00am According to a notice signed by the SUG Provost, Comrade Ukachukwu Miracle Ebube, the decision was based on three key considerations: * Academic commitment: University examinations commence on Monday, August 31, 2026, requiring students to prioritise their academic responsibilities. * Electoral irregularities: The SUG has resolved to thoroughly review irregularities observed during the electoral process. * Preservation of peace and order: All parties have been urged to remain calm and channel grievances through the appropriate SUG structures. The NUNSA election will remain suspended indefinitely until further official communication. The SUG Provost reaffirmed the office’s commitment to justice, due process, students’ welfare and the collective interests of Uniport students.
