The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill, has urged stakeholders to make agriculture more attractive to children and young people by presenting it as an innovative and rewarding pathway to economic prosperity. Prof. Princewill made the call on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the 2nd Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet) International Conference and Agrifood Systems Stakeholders’ Forum at the CBN Centre of Excellence, University of Port Harcourt. Speaking on the theme, “Advancing Inclusive and Resilient Agrifood Systems in a Changing Climate through Entrepreneurship, Digital Innovation and Value Chain Development,” the VC described agriculture as the foundation of human survival and a key driver of sustainable development. He called for greater focus on economically valuable crops and urged stakeholders to leverage agriculture for food security, job creation, wealth generation and national development.
