The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Chike Princewill, has expressed the University’s readiness to support initiatives promoting environmental protection and sustainability. He made the commitment on Monday, August 10, 2026, while receiving a delegation of the Pesticidal Plant Society of Nigeria (PePS), led by its National President, Dr. Simon Okweche, ahead of the Society’s one-week national conference at the University. Prof. Princewill stressed the importance of plants to the ecosystem and called for their proper nurturing and conservation. He also expressed optimism that collaboration between the University and PePS would strengthen research, innovation and the development of practical solutions to environmental challenges.
