PREAMBLE


The 10th Students' Representative Council (The Senate), of the Students' Union Government, University Of Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 30th of June, 2026 in exercise of its Constitutional and Legislative powers.


A total of 62 Senators were in attendance, thereby forming a quorum for the legislative business of the day.


The Senate President declared the plenary open.


The Aluta Anthem was duly observed.


The Plenary Proceedings Commenced with an Opening Prayer led by Sen. Bestman Ayebaye.


RESOLUTIONS OF THE SITTING


Adoption Of Agenda


The Senate President read the agenda for the day. The adoption of the agenda forday as a working document was moved by Sen. Amarachi Atuoma and seconded by Sen. Adumo Favour.


Address by the Senate President


i) The Senate President frowns at the impersonation of the Senate Leadership by unscrupulous element masquerading themselves as Senate Leadership.


ii) The Senate President averred that the Senate does not have any faction and that the authentic Senate is that led by his humble self and duly recognized by the School, with the Mace Signifying Symbol of authority.




COMMITTEE FINDINGS


The Committee which was set up by the Senate President to investigate some of the Pertinent issues Surrounding the Executive President, Senator Tamunotonye Amaechi Olaziba Walson, The Students' Union Treasurer, Ejike Lovechi and the Financial Secretary.


The Committee reports that:


(i) The Committee read that after the Executive President sent out a plea for extension by a week for account of stewardship upon receiving the Correspondence from the Senate which was granted, but up until this day, the Executive President has evaded the Committee's Call.


(ii) The Committee finds that the Treasurer/Financial Secretary made revelations regarding the siphoning of funds and illegally transferring monies made for the Union to his Personal accounts, with evidence she presented.


The Committee also found that the President has since been acting against the extant laws of the Constitution and has operated in a manner akin to executive rascality.


In view of the recent developments, Senator Caleb Asemo moved a motion for impeachment of the Executive President and seconded by Senator Obed. A Voice Vote was had and the majority had it.


(iii) The Senate President directs that Vice President Etim Blessing takes over immediately.


ACTIONS OF THE DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT


Following the Unconstitutional acts by the Deputy Senate President, Iben. Uranta by setting up a faction of the Authentic Senate and parading himself as an acting Senate President without any crisis emanating from the Senate or any formal delegation by the Senate President to act on his behalf, A motion for indefinite suspension of the Deputy Senate President was moved by Senator James Veta and seconded by Senator Amarachi Fortunate.


A two-third Vote was had and the majority had it.


ADJOURNMENT


Having exhausted the agenda of the day, motion for adjournment was moved by Senator Letom Earnest and seconded by Senator Gabriel Miebi. A Closing Prayer was taken by Senator Fortunate Amarachi.
