Last week, as part of our Father's Day Special, the Unique Stoary team reached out to fathers across different homes and backgrounds. This is the beautiful moment University of Port Harcourt nursing students surprised their HOD. To many, she is an administrator, but to these students, she has been a consistent mother figure through every high and low of the Nursing department. When they told her a student needed urgent medical attention, she didn’t hesitate. She didn’t ask questions. She simply dropped everything and ran—protecting her own at all costs. Little did she know, the only thing waiting for her downstairs was a sea of grateful students and a celebration of her new role. Uniport Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill Honoured as Uniport SUG Presidents Organise Historic Symposium. History was made on Thursday February 12, 2026 at the University of Port Harcourt as the current President and four former Presidents of the Students Union Government (SUG) came together to organise a one-day symposium titled “From Agitations to Negotiation.” The symposium was organised as the Vice Chancellor gradually approaches the end of his tenure in July 2026, with his modest yet impactful contributions to student matters within the University highlighted and celebrated. The event was described as deeply humbling, marking a rare moment of unity and appreciation from successive student leadership. Prof. Owunari Georgewill expressed heartfelt gratitude to the current and former SUG Presidents, as well as the entire Nigerian student community, for the honour bestowed on him. The event, which held in honour of the Vice Chancellor, was organised by Comrade Ubabuike C. Gift (2021/2022), Comrade Dickson D. Senibo (2022/2023), Sen. Okpara Martins A. (2023/2024), Rt. Hon. Harmony Lawrence (2024/2025), alongside the current SUG President, Sen. Amaechi Walson Tamunotonye.
