ASUU Rejects Proposed UK University Campus in Nigeria.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities has rejected agreements between the Federal Government and the United Kingdom on education, including plans to establish a campus of Coventry University in Nigeria.
ASUU President, Prof. Christopher Piwuna, stated the union’s position at a public lecture organised by the ASUU branch of Sa’adu Zungur University, warning that the move could undermine Nigeria’s higher education system.
He criticised the proposed campus, describing it as exploitative and inconsistent with the treatment of Nigerian students seeking education in the UK.
“They have denied Nigerians visas to study in the UK, yet they are coming here to establish universities and take our money, this is another form of colonialism, and ASUU will strongly oppose it,” Prof. Piwuna said.
The ASUU president also argued that some foreign universities were expanding into countries like Nigeria due to financial pressures and declining international student enrolment, insisting that local institutions should instead be strengthened.
He further stressed the need to preserve the committee system in Nigerian universities, warning against excessive concentration of powers in the offices of Vice Chancellors.
As the ultimatum issued by ASUU to the Federal Government on salary implementation for Professors expires, we await their next line of action.

BOLD Conversations – Episode 12
Topic: FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT: Smart Strategy or Self-Deception?
We’re told to "dress for the job we want," to speak with the authority we haven't earned, and to walk into rooms like we own the floorboards—even when our hearts are racing.
We’ve learned how to sound like experts before we’ve even finished the first chapter. But while you’re busy convincing the world you’ve got it all figured out, who is convincing you?
Is "faking it" the bridge that carries you to actual mastery, or is it a cracked mirror reflecting a version of yourself you’ll never actually reach?
Tonight, we’re peeling back the layers of the "hustle" culture. We’re asking:
* Does acting "as if" actually rewire your brain for success?
* Or are we just raising a generation of "imposters" who are terrified of the moment the lights come on and the mask slips?
What happens when the "fake" version of you lands a seat at the table, but the "real" you don't know how to eat?
Stop polishing the image for a second. Let’s talk about the thin line between ambition and fraud.
