Some encounters are brief, yet memorable. Our moment with Dr. Ovunda Ihunwo, the immediate past Acting Head of the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, after the 36th Combined Convocation Command Performance was one of those moments. Beyond the warmth of the exchange, we experienced a leader who was approachable, supportive, and genuinely appreciative of the role student media plays in documenting the University's biggest moments. Thank you, Dr. Ihunwo, for the kindness, the laughter, and the positive energy you shared with the Unique Stoary team. We wish you continued success as you embark on your next chapter. Uniport Journalism Students Experience Newspaper Production at The Tide. Students of the 200 Level, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Port Harcourt, today embarked on an educational excursion to The Tide Newspaper, Port Harcourt, where they gained firsthand insight into the practical workings of a newspaper organization. During the visit, Mr. John Bibor, Deputy Political Editor at The Tide, took the students through the newspaper production process, explaining how stories are gathered, edited, processed, and organized before publication. His session offered valuable industry perspectives and helped bridge the gap between classroom theory and newsroom practice. The excursion forms part of the department's commitment to exposing students to the practical aspects of journalism, equipping them with real-world experience that complements their academic training. Experiences like this prepare aspiring journalists to better understand the demands, ethics, and workflow of the media industry before they step into professional practice.
